9. House : Long travels, higher education

The high-level education

When I was about to choose my study, I wanted to tread paths that had been untrodden by anyone in my family. In 1989, I graduated as balkanist — as the first Dane ever — with Macedonian as main language, Greek as secondary langyage and Albanian as the tertiary language. The study line was linguistic. The degree in balkanistics was based on a minor in Bulgarian (1985). Apart from that, I have a degree i Russian philology (1983) as well.

Certified translator and interpreter in Bulgarian (also as the first and hitherto only) in 1996 at the Copenhagen Business School. Self-study.

Later studies in journalism at the Danish High School of Journalism, studies of general linguistics and Portuguese at the University of Copenhagen.

Finally post-graduate studies at the Universities of Copenhagen and Aarhus, as well as BA studies at VIA University College (VIAUC) Campus Silkeborg.

The long travels

I have been to long-lasting (minimum 3 months) study and research exiles in Russia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Germany. Moreover studies and work in the aforementioned countries as well as Slovenia, Romania, Albania, Kazakhstan, Siberia [East Russia], and Croatia.

Aimless tourism does not attract me. It takes too long time to get used to be unproductive.
